Qiru's Bio

Qiru, a talented Clarinet and Guitar ensemble, draws its name from the Quechua language, meaning "wood," paying homage to the indigenous people of South America. This Colombian-Chilean duet has gained recognition for their innovative fusion of Latin American musical styles, captivating audiences with their culturally rich and sonically diverse repertoire that includes popular Latin American rhythms such as tangos, choros, and cumbias.


Qiru's exceptional musical talents have earned them invitations to prestigious events and festivals. In 2022, they were invited to perform at the International Clarinet Association’s ClarinetFest in Reno, NV, followed by their selection to play at the 50th anniversary of the ClarinetFest in Denver, CO, in 2023.


Since 2020, Qiru duet has performed in various cities and countries, including Chicago and Carbondale, IL, Phoenix and Tucson AZ, and Reno NV in the United States, as well as Colombia, Chile, and Mexico, Qiru has garnered acclaim from diverse audiences. Their unique blend of culture and music is often enriched by extraordinary guest musicians who bring dynamic rhythms, adding an extra touch of authenticity and artistry to their already outstanding performances.
